Newt Gingrich

Library of Congress National Book Festival

I was fortunate in that I was in town during the Library of Congress’ National Book Festival. There were dozens of authors there, some who spoke and many who signed their books. I took the opportunity to get a few books signed of some of the author’s I recognized.

Book TV on C-SPAN 2
Book TV on C-SPAN 2 was interviewing authors during the day. Here they are interviewing Mary Roach, author of “Grunt: The Curious Science of Humans at War.”
Bob Woodward
Bob Woodward signing my book. When I mentioned that we had just studied part of one of his books in an Army class I’m in, he asked me several questions about my military service (holding up the long line).

I had mentioned I was in D.C. because I was in the military. When I asked for a picture, instead of it being taken with me in front of the table like everyone else, Newt told me to come behind them to get a better picture. As I started to go behind the table, the worker in the blue shirt tried to stop me but Newt told him he told me to!

Steve Israel
Representative Israel (of NY) was also interested in my military service. We talked for a bit about my service and Fort Leonard Wood…

There were long lines for many of the authors. I think this one is for Bob Woodward…
